Do You Have a Crisis Plan?
Whenever a space mission is being considered, a Master Crisis Plan (MCP) is always put in place. The MCP is setup to go through all the possible scenarios the crew and the ship could encounter during the mission.
As a leader, a Master Crisis Plan (MCP) should also be a part of your strategy as well. Here are three questions you MUST ask when processing your MCP:
From start to finish, what all could go wrong? From a space mission perspective, this must be looked at from the crew, ship, weather, technology, etc. All aspects of the mission need to be evaluated as to what could go wrong. As a leader in an organization, the same applies. Look at your team, your systems, your strategy and even your customers. Look for weak or missing elements that could cause a problem down the road.
How do we remedy each problem? It isn’t enough to “know” what could go wrong. A plan on how to meet the crisis head on and fix the issue for sake of the crew and the mission, overall, is crucial. Creating a business plan for fixing issues that will arise, is just as important. Document each step that must be taken to remedy any crisis that may arise.
What tools are needed for the solutions? Once everything is considered and thought through, a list of all the tools and resources needed must be compiled and all those tools need to be on-hand BEFORE the crisis actually arises. This forethought and planning will not only save you time but also energy and people resources when the crisis hits.
Every endeavor, mission, project, we undertake, there is the possibility of something going wrong. having a Master Crisis Plan will help you, your team, and the organization as a whole, push through the tough the crisis.
