Pathway to Success
In many of our organizations, the next step to professional development can be clouded and muddy. We may think that it is clear and direct, but if our people struggle to grow and become leaders within our own organization, we are doing a disservice to them and to the company as a whole.
Therefore, it is imperative that a CLEAR and DIRECT path for leadership development and advancement is put into place for each and every one of our employees to pursue.
In order to do this effectively, we begin with what our Description of a Fully Developed Employee (DFDE) looks like. What does the ideal, entry-level employee, bring to the table at our organization?
The next step is to describe the Description of a Fully Developed Leader (DFDL). This is most easily determined by what you want from your C-Suite level leaders. What characteristics, traits, and skills do you want them to possess.
Once you have POINT A (your DFDE) and your Point Z (DFDL) determined, you can now fill in the leadership development rubric for each level of leadership in your organization. Once that is figured out, now list the characteristics, traits and skills you see necessary for each level. We find it best that you work from the top down, eliminating and adding from the previous leadership level.
When all of that is completed, you now have given your employees a clear path to their next step in their development professionally and as a leader.
At MaxQ Leaders, we are passionate about helping organizations create clear, and strategic leadership pathways for their employees.
